There are two kinds of cards in Karuta: Yomifuda (reciter card) and Torifuda (Payer card). Ogura Hyakunin Isshu ( 小倉百人一首) is a classical Japanese anthology of one hundred Japanese poems (waka) by one hundred poets. The people playing Karuta requires a lot of memory, lightning speed, agility and fast reflexive skills. The one played in the movie is Kyogi Karuta. It is said that there are many types of Karuta. Karuta is a Japanese Playing card introduced to Japan by Portuguese traders in the mid-16th century. Detective Conan is definitely a must watch Anime.

The way they have each other’s back is definitely one of the points and also I can say the first point which made me a fan of this series.Īfter watching this I started to watch Detective Conan anime series as well and I can’t get over it. Heiji and Conan are super cool in this movie I got super excited by the way they rescued others and each other. The deductions drawn are awesome and the plot carries suspense until the end. This movie definitely has a twist in the end with a heart-touching story revealed in the climax. And the intro is super awesome with captivating background music which I can watch again and again. Though it is of Thriller genre, it also has a sweet love story. I was awestruck in the initial part of the movie itself. This is my first Detective Conan movie and I have not watched the series before. Heiji and Kazuha play most of the part in the movie and also basically revolves around them. The finals are held in Satsuki hall which is situated somewhere high and in midst of waterfalls where only two players who entered final and a reader are allowed. They held a very high importance in Satsuki tournament history. These cards are safeguarded and are not used in any other matches. Specialty in Satsuki Cup championship – the Karuta cards used are played by legendary Karuta players and are used only in finals and also usually exhibited in the museum. Who is behind all this? Is Nagora is the true suspect or someone else?!!!!!!! He is believed to be fled without paying the final against Satsuki who is the founder of Satsuki-kai. Now, who is Shikao Nagoro? He is one of the suspects behind blasts and murders happened.
They found that the cards that were left at the crime scene and sent by email to victims were all Shikao Nagoro’s favorite cards, all of which had ‘Momiji’ in their poems. As the inquiry goes on, they come across a secret.
Conan and Heiji, along with the Osaka and Kyoto police departments, begin their investigation on the Satsuki Cup and the related murder case. Now, why Momiji claimed herself as Heiji’s fiancee? is something related to past, during their childhood.Īt the same time, in a Japanese house in Arashiyama, Kyoto’s outskirts, the reigning Satsuki Cup champion is murdered and Karuta cards were found scattered over the place. Knowing Kazuha’s participation, Heiji requests his mother Shizuka who is a skilled Karuta Player to help Kazuha. Though it is not told by Heiji directly, we can see in Heiji’s face his love for Kazuha. Momiji is High School Karuta Champion but, Kazuha is a novice in Karuta. They challenge each other for Karuta tournament and whoever wins will get to confess Heiji. As the building is burned into ashes the only people left in the building are Heiji and Kazuha, who is saved just in time by Conan. The motive behind this bombing is unknown, which of course solved later by Conan and Heiji.Īmidst this confusion, Conan and Heiji meet Momiji Ooka a mysterious and beautiful girl who out of the blue claims herself as Heiji’s fiancee resulting in the rivalry between her and Heiji’s childhood friend Kazuha. This results in the huge commotion and eventually bomb is exploded. A bomb alert is announced asking people to leave the building and run for safety.
